They also released an open-source tool to extract these releases (basicly it's an 'x360-ISO extractor') so you can check out the files in the image. It will not work on original discs as a PC DVD-ROM can't read those.

And a note to the tech guys: Yes, once you get past the protections and down to the raw bits on the disc, its just the standard xboxdvdfs, however the offset and layer breakpoint are different!

BestBuy to get Shipment Of More XBOX360's

A GamersReports member who works for BestBuy sent in the company newsletter showing that BestBuy is to get another XBOX360 shipment before Christmas this is good news for people who want one and have not gotten one yet.

According to this internal Best Buy newsletter submitted to us by a reader, the new shipment of Xbox360 consoles will hit stores on December 16. The document looks to be real, but as always, take it with a certain amount of scrutiny. It also states that the bonus remote will not be included in this next shipment. There is also other info about Best Buy products in the newsletter, click the news title to read it for yourself. (Thanks, Munkyd)

*Update: According to one of our readers who works at Best Buy, they were told a few days after this newsletter to hold the Xbox360 units until December 18th before sale.

There were a few people skeptical about the legitimacy of the scanned doucment because of "hyperlinks" although a BestBuy employee commments and explains it is an insiders newsletter (via email) and that it is legit,

I'm a Best Buy employee, and I can acknowledge that this is legit. What you don't see is the document we received 2 days later telling us to hold ALL Xbox 360s until Dec. 18th. They'll be featured in the ad that week. So they may be arriving the 16th, but you won't get one till the 18th.

This is our current position on the X Box 360s:

Microsoft's decision to conduct a non-staggered, worldwide launch for the Xbox 360 has made it extremely difficult for all Xbox 360 suppliers (including Gratis Internet’s) to obtain them for order fulfillment. Therefore, we are unable to fulfill our customers' Xbox 360 orders until January 2006. We apologize for this inconvenience and thank you for your continued patience, while we continue working hard to fulfill your orders as soon as possible.

Sorry about this guys. We have been going crazy trying to procure a supply of these things and it has not worked out for us. If anything changes, we'll be sure to let you know.

Unrar the file and put the Folders into :
X:/PSP/GAMES/

Place the firmware files direcly in ms0:/ (on the root of your memory stick)
using the firmware original path, for instance loadcore.prx should be located
at ms0:/kd/loadcore.prx
(both flash0 and flash1 (do not care if flash0 and flash1 files share the same folders)
(dump the flash0 files or get them from an update by using fakeupdater or psardumper,
to get flash1 dump it, or get it over the internet)

Note: You can also use the 1.0 fw flash 1 directory to use with the
1.0 debug unit firmware and the 1.50 flash 1 directory to use with
the 1.51 and 1.52 firmwares.

To boot 2.00 (and higher) you will need flash1 from a 1.50 psp, using 2.00's flash1 wont work at this time.

Note: To extract firmwares you need to use an eboot unpacker, put the
psar from the update eboot in the root of your memory stick, and use
psardumper2.0A from pspet. Then you have two folders one called OUT
and one other called OUTX. OUTX is the descrypted fw while OUT is the
encrypted one. Then use readme.txt to create the correct folder path
for your fw.
You can also use fakeupdater that will create the directories for you.

press start to run the fw !

That is right people today the Microsoft XBOX360 was released in North America. If you did not know the date 11.22.2005 then you must live under a rock and should NOT be visiting this page. Microsoft expects to sell over 3 million 360's by the end of this year. I went by Target today and saw a line of people, sleeping bags, drinks, etc. I have collected a few website which show some very nice pictures of the lauch events "Zero Hour" in Manhatten and California, and some other places. PRX Moduler 1.0.1 BETA (GTA:LCS WORKING!)

Supposibly a new program PRX Moduler 1.0.1 BETA which is not yet released to the public can play GTA and most 2.0 required games. Although GTA does not work for some odd reason 74% into the game. Here is the NFO or TXT file included with the BETA (We do not have the beta, So Dont Ask!)

Dance Dance Revolution on PSP!

Alright, in all of my opinion I have to say the only people I see playing Dance Dance Revolution AKA DDR is freaks (gothics), and people you do not want to hang around and make fun of. Although I have to say it is a WORLDWIDE known game. Well, now guess what all you "DDR" fans, you can play it now on your PSP!

DeNitro and Devin923 from our forums have released PSPRevolution – an amazing new game for the PSP. It is very simple to play, you just press the directional buttons in sync with the beat, but it is very addicting. This is the most fun homebrew game I have played in a long time guys, I am very impressed. Good work!!

PSP Revolution is based off the popular game Stepmania and is compatible with Stepmania (.SM) and Dance With Intensity (.DWI) song files. To install additional songs, copy them into pack folders in "\psp\game\pspr\songs" just as you would in Stepmania.

Play 'Required Upgrade' Games on PSP 1.5...

PSP3D claims to think they may be able to come up with sort of a "kit" or "fix" to play required upgrade games such as GTA: Liberty City Stories, Hustle: The Detroit Streets and SOCOM: FTB. So far they have had 2 betas all of which failed but it actualy looks like they have something going and have a good format here. We will keep you updated as the stroy grows!

BETA 2 FAILED.
BETA 3...a few days from now.

I've taken a quick break from the downgrader to develop an exploit to allow 1.5 users to play games that don't allow firmware tricks (GTA, Socom) and require 2.0, 2.01, and will allow you keep 1.5's low security!

2.50 TIF Overflow Explained

We recently posted about a TIF overflow for firmware version 2.50. Here is what is actually in the EBOOT file, and a small explanation. Thanks guys, this all we asked for in the beginning. Now, the question remains if this can be used as an exploit or not. Time will tell, PSPUpdates will keep you posted.

Traditional PBP and SAVEGAME Layout
-ULUS100xxxx or EBOOT
--Param.SFO (tells how the psp handles the file: e.g. title - update ver. 2.51)
--icon0.PNG (icon)
--icon1.PMF (almost like a short movie clip <500kb
--pic1.PNG (background for pile that appears when you look at the file)
--SND0 (background sound-not in most saves or EBOOTs)
--Data file/data.psp (name vary depending on game saves...data.psp is the name when in eboots)
--Data.psar(only in eboots)

Well my Exploit contains...
--Param.SFO (tells how the psp handles the file: e.g. title - update ver. 2.51)
--icon0.PNG (icon-overflow.tif)
--icon1.PMF (blank PMF found in iso rip kits)

My Original Idea For The Exploit

5)ICON1 the blank pmf found in iso rip kits
6)Param file set to be read as updater version 2.51
7)pic0 overflow.tif resized to 272x48

Only one thing from my original blueprint wasn't used : the AT3 file is 5kb

How This Works
This works by overloading the psp audio with a glitch sound, and overloading the image handler with overflow.tif, thus in conjuction overriding the TIF patch.

Possible 2.50 Overflow Exploit - Warning NOT Tested

UPDATE: We've gotten 3 confirmations from forum users that this indeed works properly as an overflow exploit just as stated by the creator. This of course does not ensure it is safe, but after 6 hours and no reports of bricking, I feel confident to take this off such a high alert status and place it into a legitimate exploit status. Kudos PSPlayer1001, I believe you might have found something useful here.

We’ve gotten about 20 emails from users claiming that a new TIF overflow has been created for PSP firmware version 2.50 by a guy named PSPlayer1001 from the "PSP3D hacking team". Basically, he claims it freezes up the PSP when run, just like the original overflow exploit for 2.00 did. A similar exploit was found in the 2.00 firmware, which was used to create the MPH 2.00 -> 1.50 downgrader.

We do not have a fv2.50 PSP here at QJ, and even if we did we’d be hesitant to try such a file without the creator stepping forward and giving us more information (email us!). We weren’t going to put this up, but we figured there would be people out there that would want to hear about it. If it’s true, then great. If not, then oh well, no loss.

We warn you though, that EBOOT files that brick (break) your PSP *do* exist, and we strongly caution all but the most knowledgeable users not to download and test this file. We are only posting it so that we can get validation and pass a verdict one way or another on this file. As soon as we can pass judgement, I will update this post (or delete it if it’s bogus). Get the EBOOT [here]. Please use the "Submit News" feature up top to report your findings.

FAKE: Xbox 360s available 3.5 days early (Friday, 2pm ET) from Circuit City

Whoa whoa whoa, what’s going on here? Circuit City’s website has promised that Xbox 360 units will be avaliable at 2pm ET this Friday. That’s a good 3.5 days (82 hours) ahead of schedule.

Better call in sick to work on Friday if you intend to snag one, though, because that line will be forming on Thursday at some locations. Also, be prepared to shell out more than you may have budgeted, as Circuit City will only be selling systems bundled with games.

Of course it’s entirely possible that Circuit City’s web team has just messed up with their updates of two separate pages (1, 2). We’ve seen bigger blunders, so it’s not out of the realm of possibility.

Update: more details. According to a Circuit City customer service rep we just spoke to when we called 1-800-843-2489, every physical Circuit City location will be selling the console this Friday at 2pm ET. Just to be sure, we called again and spoke to a second rep at 1-800-843-2489: “Yes, it will be available this Friday at 2pm ET online as well as at our stores.”

Update 2: Circuit City’s PR managers have responded to our request for clarification on the confusing language on the Circuit City website. Here’s the real deal:

Circuit City will begin selling a limited supply of Xbox 360 bundles on www.circuitcity.com beginning 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, 2005. These units will ship on 11/21/2005; customers who opt to pay extra for next-day delivery can do so to get their Xbox in their homes on 11/22/2005.

We are not selling them earlier in our stores; I apologize for the misinformation you received from the call center. We will have Xbox 360 units for sale in all Circuit City stores nationwide beginning 10 a.m. local time on 11/22/2005. They are first-come, first-served as we did not allow any preorders.

Xbox 360 allocations for Best Buy by store

Wanna know how many Xbox 360s are coming to your local Best Buy? Find your store number(s) off Best Buy’s official store locator, then check out the list for the right store for you to camp out next to on the 22nd or 21st.

Of course, knowing how many units have been allotted to the store of your choice doesn’t guarantee you a system on launch day, but it is touching to know that being an official launch sponsor does indeed mean more boxes at launch than the other guys (up to possibly a tenth of total U.S. numbers).

So if these figures are correct, Best Buy’s getting 40,770 systems in the U.S. total, split exactly 70-30 among Pro and Core systems. And as for those few anomalous stores with at least 100 Pro and 30 Core units? Just those among the 12 Best Buys around the nation slated to open their doors at midnight to sell the 360. #311 up there’s in Burbank, Illinois. Good luck, all you early adopters!

as said before, here is a small update to V0.6 ... mainly with new design (please use the included backpic.bmp in ISOMISC/ ) and the possibility to change CPU/Bus speed ...

But for finding the problem we placed a small debugvalue on the bottom right of the screen (last to digits of that line)

Please, if someone with a V1.00 PSP would be so kind to write down all the values for the states of tray open/close, before iso selection and after selection (when the 'initializing' hangs) ...

Besides this, there are only minor changes made (except for alot of code cleanup) so i dont know if more isos are working or not ...

WAB UMD Launcher v3.0

Although this is not released yet it is going to be amazing when it is. This application from what it looks like it going to allow you to also Rip UMD Games to your Memory Stick so that you do not need to ever use a UMD disc again. From what I have heard Team Xecuter, PS2NFO, and WAB are all going to release there own version of this fine application. You can also be sure that this will be covered indepthly by us and we will have the download available right when it is released. Below are quotes from various websites about these UMD iSO Launcher:

In recent days we have seen more and more ISO loaders being released starting with Lumines, followed by Coded Arms, Mercury, WipEout, Bleach, Intelligent License, and I think Ridge Racer Namco Museum.

The WAB group has apparently developed a UMD launcher that loads ISOs for every game currently available for the PSP. From the picture it looks like a menu with an ISO selector which is similar to the ROM selectors in many of the popular emulators. Rumor has it that sound will work with every UMD. They have said nothing about a release date other than “coming soon”. We want nothing to do with stealing games, so we will of course not be hosting or offering any support for files such as these.

Apparently ps2nfo has developed their own UMD ISO Loader which is responsible for loading ALL current games off the memory stick. You won’t even have to extract the contents from the ISO image itself; just simply put the ISO in the MS root (naming it xxx-umdgame.iso) and load their launcher!

It has yet to be released so I cannot confirm whether or not these claims are valid; however, check back for the latest updates once more information becomes available.

Update: We’re not entirely sure who is responsible for this loader yet; whether it be ps2nfo or WAB. Many people are claiming it’s WAB’s loader that is scheduled to be released soon (v3.0). We’re not taking sides; we’re not making claims - just simply reporting what we hear in the scene. No less - stay tuned for updates!

Update: WAB is responsible for this loader. Unfortunately it is still not available for download but check back for updates!

To use it, simply put your PSP iSO in the MS root (no file extraction is required at all) and then rename it xxx-umdgame.iso. The UMD iSO Launcher is loaded via exploit (as is done with emulators/homebrew) and press X to launch the game! That's it! No ripping, modifying game files, or any other LAME "X ecuter-type" garbage... and the best part is it works with ALL current PSP games! Team Xecuter Mod Allows Downgrading!

More amazing news about the Sony PSP is downgrading, and adding more memory. Using CF cards or external HDD's. Quote from Team Xecuter:

For some time now we have been working hard on a PSP hack. If you remember we never said it was a modchip or anything that could boot dumped games or homebrew (currently you have psp-dev and the WAB team to thank for these breakthroughs). In fact what we designed was our own development hardware to tap into every aspect of the PSP, from the Memory Stick port through to its NAND flash memory and infrastructure.

As there are more and more homebrew applications and games and other exciting developments within the growing PSP scene there is obviousley a need for more storage - and with that comes a heavy price. The cost of a 2Gb DUO memory stick can cost over $400 !

However, what if you could use a Smart Media Card, Compact Flash Card, SD Card, USB Flash Drive or even a USB HDD !

Well it's possible. We are developing a simple plug in device where you can expand the PSP Memory Stick Port to connect to several other memory devices, thus saving massive costs and giving you a multitude of storage options for your PSP no matter what you wish to play with be it games, web browsers, ebooks, music players, media managers and much more !

Using this same development kit we have been able to downgrade v1.52 / v1.51 down to v1.50 or even a v1.00 with no problems whatsoever. We can also tell you its easily possible to patch the kernel to be able to boot anything you like without any type of software loader. It can be acheived in both a modchip AND a non-modchip form so no doubt teams like WAB and others will have solutions for you in the coming weeks as the methods to achieve this are indeed known by others - we are simply confirming its very possible. Before anyone makes a rumour - no Xecuter is not doing any form of modchip for the PSP - it will be a waste of time as every patch can be achieved without the need for this. However maybe certain dealers will have capabilities to downgrade your PSP firmware for you - or to repair PSP's damaged by the over zealous hacker - who knows ?

On a final note good luck to teams like WAB and PSP-DEV - they are worth supporting.

As we are seeing many new homebrew applications, games, emulators, and more are coming out for the PSP. A new game/application is a Drum Machine / Sequencer, here is a quote taken from PSPUpdate's:

Nathan Wray and Noah Vawter of the PSPKick team have released a very impressive new bit of PSP homebrew – PSP Kick. It is a drum machine / sequencer for the PSP. You get 12 drum sounds and a large grid where you are able to compose your own beats. You can change patterns to make as many beats as you want and save them. Then you can output your beats to 44khz 16 bit stereo sound .wav files (yes, the PSP is doing the encoding directly to the memory stick!).

Nathan Wray notes that future versions will allow you to use your own custom sounds, which would make the possibilities for created beats and songs limitless. Expect additional skins and sound packs in weekly updates. Additionally, their website, www.PSPKick.com will go live soon which will have a helpfile and contact info.

WAB MS Launcher Alpha Released!

The first ever PSP UMD ISO Loader was released. This application has not yet been tested on every game but from what I have heard will not fully load a game yet. only time will tell what things are coming, be sure to look out for updates on this application as it gets bigger. Below is a quote taken from PS2NFO:

AloneTrio of the group WAB (who coded the World's first PSP Trainer) has now released the PSP WAB MS Launcher Alpha! Basically this utility can be installed using KXploit v1.50 and then used to launch extracted UMD iSO dumps from your PSP Memory Stick root, but as it's an Alpha version NO games have been confirmed as playable. There has NOT been a lot of testing done yet, however, most games will either begin to load the title/intro screen only (ie WipeOut Pure), will hang on "Now Loading" (ie Ridge Racers), or will hang at the "Please Wait" screen (ie Puzzle Bobble). Once again, at this time NO game actually plays via this Alpha version to our knowledge, but this is simply further progress towards that goal. The 'hanging' is likely due to UMD check routines being present, but only time will tell for sure!

In related news, we also received confirmation today from a popular Chip developer that a PSP Mod is expected to arrive in the near future. On the plus side it will allow you to fully run the iSO images from your Memory Stick, but on the minus side it will likely involve both forking over a bit of ca$h and opening up your precious $250 PSP console. More news on this as it becomes available of course!

The new exploit for the PSP which allows PSP v1.5 users to boot homebrew applications such as games, emulators, applications, etc. Coming from the same people who brought you the version where you would have to swap memory sticks utilizing this new application you no longer need to more, this is probably going to be the final release of this project from PSP-DEV Team. Below is the article from PS2NFO on this new application:

PaWsTick, CybBlade, and Killer-x from the PsP-Dev Team who released SwaPloit v1.50 last week have now let the world know in THIS Forum thread that tomorrow (06-22-2005, 12:00 GMT+2 Spanish Time) they plan to release a final version of their v1.50 PSP firmware "homebrew" launcher entitled KXploit! This version will NOT require two Memory Sticks nor any swapping we're told, so it may indeed be the FINAL solution many v1.50 PSP owners have been seeking!

We can be sure this will be a MUST HAVE for all PSP 1.5 owners. We will have the file availble to download at the time it comes out. Also be sure to check out the video of the application in use Here.

PSPersonalize v1.0 Released

NOTE: If you plan to use this program be aware it will overwrite your original PSP Background Images permanently with each use, or even worse may permanently damage your PSP if misused... so use it with caution and read ALL included documentation first or simply don't try it if you aren't 100% confident with the required process involved.

Tonight on iRC Vampire and DrEggman released PSPersonalize v1.0 for PSP v1.00 & v1.50. PSPersonalize is a PSP program that lets you replace the background images in your PSP menu. On the PSP, there are 12 backgrounds, one for every month as follows: 01.BMP - January, 02.BMP - February, 03.BMP - March, 04.BMP - April, 05.BMP - May, 06.BMP - June, 07.BMP - July, 08.BMP - August, 09.BMP - September, 10.BMP - October, 11.BMP - November, 12.BMP - December. This program allows you to replace any image you want with your own custom made images.

To insert your own images, simply put your own 24-bit BMP file in the root directory of your second memory stick. The filename should match the number of the month you want to replace. (Ex: I want to replace November so I would create a .BMP called 11.BMP and place it in my 2nd memory stick). Do NOT put these images in any of the directories in your memory stick, the software won’t find them in this case. Also, images can’t be any larger than 150k in size... that’s a resolution of about 300x170. The reason for this is that anything larger causes your PSP to not load the icons properly. Finally, these images must be 24-bit so do NOT use images that are 16-bit or 8-bit color. Enjoy, and props to both Vampire and DrEggman!

Finally, for those interested here is a PSP DEV File List of similar other PSP leaks thus far... it simply lists the file names and sizes. Ironically, the legal PSPDEV ToolChain has recently been released as well. Cheers!

First Grand Theft Auto PSP Screens!

Above are the first "real" Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories screens for the Sony PSP (Playstation Protable). Grand Theft Auto probably the most popular game for the Sony Playstation 2, now Rockstar Games is coming out with Grand Theft Auto for the PSP judging by the first screens, it looks like it is going to be AMAZING!

Movie Reviews: Week Of June 12

MR. & MRS. SMITH
In my opinion Mr. & Mrs. Smith was one of the best movies I have seen in a long time, besides having Angelina Jolie in it, the action was AWESOME, the story line was cool. I would recommend this movie to anyone.

THE LONGEST YARD
This was another AWESOME movie. With the cast including Adam Sandler, Chris Rock & Burt Reynolds it was a movie where it was hard not to laugh. I again would recommend it to anyone.

I know this is not alot of movies I reviewed this time, but I am going to see a few today including the new Batman Begins. Be sure to look for some more reviews tommorow.

In my opinion the Microsoft XBOX360 is going to be like the Sony Playstation 2, for example selling on ebay for over $700 because it would be the holiday season and they will be sold out everywhere. GiftFiesta's PreOrder.GiftFiesta. I do not know about this network they have given away a few things, but there has been more bad than good that I have heard about them. At PreOrder.GiftFiesta they give away more than an XBOX360 they also have the Sony PS3 there.

Logitech4Free's owner is opening a new site VG4Free. The site is not yet opened but we will let you know promptly when it is. From the list of prizes we can see you will be able to choose an XBOX360, PS3, PSP & no one has yet to offer this a Nintendo Revolution.

PSP v1.5 Homebrew Launcher Released!

The PSPDevTeam released a PSP application for the PSP v1.5 which most of us Americans have! This is an amazing thing, utilizing this application allows you too, launch homebrew applications such as emulators, roms, homebrew games, more homebrew apps, etc. The possibilities are unlimited with this application. You can download it from these servers.

How you run this application is a bit different from what most people would think. For one you need 2 memory sticks:

To clarify, what you need to do is first of all have two memory sticks. Memory stick 1 is your "dumby" stick and Memory stick 2 is where you'll end up having your homebrew/emu's/roms

Memory stick 1 can be any size stick (preferrably the 32 MB crap stick you got with your PSP) and Mem stick 2 will be the larger one (as you'll be storing your stuff on it).

Ok, so first I put in my 32MB mem stick and then I ran the program that came with the tutorial (the MSwap Tool). It installs in Spanish and you'll be asked to restart your computer. Restart (the option that says "Ahora" in it) and then run the program. Go up to "Idioma" after the program is going to change the language to English.

Now, any program you want to "convert" you select the Eboot file under "PBP File". Just browse and select the Eboot file. Next you choose where you want your output directory to be. The output directory will be where the converted eboot FILES will go.

You hit "Generate Files" and bam, son, you can now go grab those files from the output directory. Once you find your output directory (the pop up message will tell you in case you forget, after you hit "generate files"), you will notice there are two folders - MS1 and MS2 for Memory Stick 1 and Memory Stick 2 respectively (duh).

There will be an eboot file in each folder. Insert Mem stick 1 into your PSP, hook it up via USB cable or whatever, and copy the eboot file over to the directory:

PSP\GAME\TEST\Copy-your-eboot-here

After you've done that, you can take out Mem Stick 1 from your PSP and insert Mem Stick 2. Now, copy the eboot file from MS2 (in the output folder) and put it in the EXACT SAME DIRECTORY (PSP\GAME\TEST\Copy-your-eboot-here again) Once you've done that, you're ready to test your reflexes.

Insert Mem stick 1 into your PSP again. Go over to Game and scroll down to "Memory Stick". You'll see the icon for the program (Launcher 1.5).

What you have to do now is to start up the program, quickly take out memory stick 1 from your PSP and insert memory stick 2. You have to do this pretty fast (at least I had to with the damn calculator, lol. The first time I didn't do it fast enough) When you hit the button to start the app, don't even bother waiting for that PSP logo screen to go all the way through - you should immediately begin the swapping process.

I recommend keeping the memory stick door open and being ready to pop that mem stick 1 out and slap in mem stick 2 with haste! I hope this helps some for those who were a little confused by the PDF. I was at first till I read it through a few times and just gave it a go.

Although I do not condone piracy in any way, this is a follow up on my last post. The PSP Games that were dumped on the internet and proven to be legitimate have now been released. Although there is no way to play them yet, the quote from the text document contained in them states,
